To help kick off Native American Heritage Month, Shawano School District's Title VI: Indigenous Education program teamed up with Starlyn Miller and student volunteers from the Shawano Community High School and Middle School to educate the students and staff of Hillcrest about the cultural significance regarding hair to Indigenous Nations. Ms. Miller gave a lesson on the significance as it pertains to the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohicans, followed by a braiding activity provided by our student volunteers. It was an event full of cultural learning, laughter, and even some dancing!
